Beschrijving

Deze kaart geeft de National Cycle Network en de aanbevolen fietsroutes door het noordelijk deel van Devon. Alle fietsroutes in betreffend gebied staan keurig ingetekend, dus ook die van het National Cycle Network. Ook veel praktisch zaken als bezienswaardigheden, stations, supermarkten, fietsenmakers, pubs, hotels etc. Bovendien zijn er vijf dagfietstochten op de kaart vermeld.

Deze kaart bestrijkt het volgende gebied: Ilfracombe, Exmoor, Dartmoor, Bude, Chard, Exeter, Bideford

The North Devon cycle map shows the National Cycle Network and local routes in this area. It covers the North Devon area of the South West region of England, including Exmoor, Ilfracombe and the North Devon coast, Exeter, Okehampton and Bude.

Devon is one of those counties with a wealth of different landscapes and cycle routes to explore. In North Devon, the wilds of Exmoor contrast with some of the most stunning sandy beaches the country has to offer. You'll also find the Tarka Trail, one of the UK's most popular traffic-free cycle routes - flat and forming part of the iconic Devon Coast to Coast cycle route from Ilfracombe to Plymouth.
 
This pocket-sized colour map shows clearly mapped on-road and traffic-free paths, easy to read contours, and detailed inset maps for the major towns and cities as well as recommended linking routes connecting the NCN with quiet roads. The map also features 5-day rides with directions and a description of the area, highlighting key cycle routes, local history and places of interest.

National Route 2 from Axminster to Seaton (Stop Line Way), through Sidmouth (section through Exmouth is in Map 2), reappears up the west side of the Exe estuary to Exeter (Tour de Manche), then back down the east side (Exe Estuary Trail)
 
National Route 3 Tiverton to Bampton, through South Molton to Barnstaple, down through Bideford and Great Torrington (Tarka Trail), along to Holsworthy and Bude and down the Cornish coast (from Bampton, all of this is Sustrans LE-JOG)
 
National Route 27 from Ilfracombe, down through Barnstaple to Petrockstowe (Tarka Trail), on to Okehampton and down to Lydford (Granite Way and Tour de Manche, all of this is La Velodyssee)

Weinig aanknopings- herkenningspunten

Ik had niet eerder met kaartjes gefietst (wel met fiets-GPS). Ik vond op de kaart weinig aanknopings- herkenningspunten zoals een pub of een kerk. We zijn dus met enige regelmaat echt goed van de route gekomen. Dat is eigenlijk niet zo erg omdat je toch vakantie hebt maar de bedoeling van een kaart is wel je enige houvast te geven. Zeker
