The Hema Central Australia map, for the first time, now features text and photos as well as more information than ever before. The words and pictures really make this map the ultimate, useful guide to the area so you do not have to miss any of the great features of the area. The map information is the most detailed it has ever been and features Latitude and Longitudes on literally 100's of important locations; it includes an insert for the top part of the Tanami Track, so that it covers the complete track and now includes where leaded and unleaded fuel is available, auto gas and even EFTPOS facilities.

The very centre of Australia, with Alice Springs and the Simpson Desert in the middle of the map. The map extends from inside the border of Western Australia to Windorah in western Queensland, and north-south from Tennant Creek in the Northern Territory to Woomera in South Australia. A small inset shows the continuation of the Tanami Road to Halls Creek. Cartography is similar to that used in the publisher’s highly acclaimed “Great Desert Tracks” series, distinguishing between roads and tracks which were plotted with a GPS and computer during the fieldwork carried out by Hema, plus other tracks shown on Australia’s 1:250,000 topographic survey and on other sources, but not specifically verified by the publishers. Major junctions and isolated facilities are annotated with GPS waypoints. National parks, reserves, aboriginal lands, etc. are highlighted. Symbols provide detailed information on accommodation, general stores, fuel supply, medical facilities, places of interest, etc. Latitude/longitude grid is drawn at intervals of 1º. On the reverse there are travel tips, descriptions of places of interest, contact addresses, and a list of facilities in the national parks.
