Le Chemin du Puy: du Velay aux Pyrénéees covers the most popular route of the Way of St. James in France, from Le Puy-en-Velay along the GR65, via Conques, Figeac, and Cahors to Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port, with alternative variants via Rocamadour or via Villefranche-sur-Rouergue.
This title is part of a series of guides to the various routes of the Way of St. James across France from Rando Editions. Written in accessible, easy to follow French, the guides provide all the essential practical information and full details of various types of accommodation along the route, including gîtes d’étape and campsites.
The routes are divided into daily sections of various lengths according to the difficulty of the terrain, usually from four to eight hours of walking, with brief descriptions or instructions at numerous points along each section. The accompanying maps, usually 1:100,000, although not as detailed as in the topo-guide series and not contoured, are easy to follow and provide a clear picture of the route. The guides also include descriptions of all the important historical monuments along each route, illustrated with colour photographs.
